So, I got busy unpacking and realized I hadn't heard the kids for a little while. Normally they are running around with Denny roaring and Emily screaming trying to get away from the "monster", so silence is odd. I looked into their play area and they were both sitting at the Thomas Table reading. By the time I got the camera Emily had ditched her book and Denny was "reading" to her. He knows most of the stories by heart so he just tells her what's happening in his own words. Too cute!

We decided to get Jacob an exercise saucer so he would be able to be awake a little more without my holding him constantly. Anytime I laid him on the floor he would fall asleep and we figured if we can keep him up more during the day hopefully he'd sleep more at night. He loves his new toy as you can see.

Jacob wakes up around 3 a.m. to eat and I was bringing him into our room because our recliner wasn't set up in his room yet. He would fall asleep eating and then I'd leave him there. This was so cute on a Saturday morning when Daddy was sleeping in I had to take a picture.

We've known for a while now that Emily is allergic to mosquitos. When she gets bitten the site of the bite just gets red and large. Anyway, one day she got bitten across her forehead (5 bites!) with one landing just to the side of her left eye. It swelled shut! She was a real trooper and didn't complain about it at all though. She must have real sweet blood.

A friend of ours was going into the hospital to have her baby early Monday morning (a week or so ago) and so we offered to keep her kids Sunday night so she could just leave for the hospital. We set up the tent in the playroom and the two boys slept in there. We put their other boy in Denny's bedroom and then their three girls slept on an air mattress in front of the TV. They had so much fun. But, we know we don't want 8 kids (that's how many we had that night including ours) because it was crazy trying to make waffles the next morning. We couldn't make them fast enough. Ha!
does the saucer thing work for jacob? are you getting more sleep?
ReplyDeleteWow, 8 kids all together! You are so nice to do that for your friend! I hope she came back to get her kids after she had the baby. :) I have so many pictures of Beau sleeping with the babies. Parenting at its best. Poor Emily. I swell up as well when I get bit by mosquitos. She looks so happy despite the discomfort she must be feeling.
ReplyDeleteWell, he's been able to get on a good schedule because he's being entertained enough to stay awake longer during the day and so that seems to help him get more sleep at night.
ReplyDeleteEmily didn't even seem to be bothered by the swelling. I was more worried than she was.
